SUMMARY:Unveiling the Golden Shadow: Active Imagination\, Art Therapy\, and the Power of Symbolism
DESCRIPTION:  \nIn this 4-hour workshop\, we will explore the interplay between active imagination\, art therapy\, and the power of symbolism. Drawing from Jungian and post-Jungian art therapy traditions\, participants will engage in art-making and writing focusing on symbolism and metaphor to access the unconscious and cultivate a dialogue with the images that emerge. Further integrating Janie Rhyne’s Gestalt-based approach to “dialogue between art and Self\,” and James Hillman’s call to “stick with the image\,” we will learn to trust the creative process as a path to insight and transformation. Through guided exercises\, participants will discover how the “golden shadow” reveals personal mythopoetic identity—our unique\, soul-centered place in the web of life. This experiential training invites clinicians to deepen their therapeutic practice by facilitating symbolic exploration\, expanding perception\, and uncovering the heart of the matter in both art and self. \nParticipants will be able to: \n\nIdentify 2 essential components post-Jungian active imagination work engaged through integrative art therapy.\nApply 2 properties of artistic language\, symbolism\, and metaphor using visual media and writing.\nState 1 or more ways to employ metaphor discovery to build clinical interventions relevant to client needs.\n\n

SUMMARY:Process Painting Seminar - April 2025
DESCRIPTION:When applying the concepts of El Duende Process Painting and Anchored Relational Method of Relational Autonomy and Relational Cohesion to self-as-therapist clinical practice\, the vehicle for learning becomes the therapist’s relationship to a single canvas over time. The sequential layering of art materials fosters ongoing self-reflexivity through aesthetic attunement\, Relational Resonance\, and clinical intuition. This process provides a direct experience with internal reflective processing\, aesthetically focused curiosity\, and opportunities to explore internal and external relationships\, often activating deep layers of professional and personal identity material and helping us fine-tune how we attune and attend to ourselves and clients. \nThe structure of process painting has three main activities: (a) spontaneous painting\, (b) complex reflective processing\, and (c) aesthetically focused attention to imagery appearing in the painting that parallels the clinical experience\, which offers numerous benefits. These include enhanced self-reflexivity\, improved clinical intuition\, and a deeper understanding of internal and external relationships. Engagement from Active Imagination\, practicing and applying “neurology\, development\, dignity\, resilience\, and vulnerability inherent in all human beings.. supporting life-giving actions in line with values.” (Miller and Solon 2024) \nSeminar Schedule: \n\n8:30 – 9 am\, Orientate self to space and sign in\n9 am\, Seminar begins\n12 – 12:45\, Lunch on your own\n3:45\, Seminar ends

SUMMARY:Expressive Arts Trauma Processing Group
DESCRIPTION:This 10-session therapy group will create a space for processing the impacts of relational traumas on ourselves and our lives through expressive art-making and supportive reflection. You do not need to be an ‘artist’ to participate\, as the creative work we do will center the process\, expression\, witnessing\, and connection that art-making allows us to engage with.\n\nThis group is intended for those who have already done some therapeutic work regarding their trauma histories in an individual therapy setting. The focus will be on exploring the ways that past traumas continue to show up in our lives and our relationships\, in connection with others with similar experiences.\n\nThis iteration of the group is specifically for female-identified adults\, to allow for greater shared experiences among participants regarding the impact of particular cultural expectations and dynamics on their unique identities and experiences. Those interested in joining\, or wanting to express interest in a similar group catered to different needs or identities\, should complete the questionnaire below; we will reach out for a follow-up interview or to offer alternative resources.\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, 1:30 – 3:30 pm\nFebruary 18 – April 22\, 2025\n\nPre-registration is required Click Here\n\n\n\nThis group will be co-facilitated by art therapists Leah Fargo\, MA\, and Cynthia Phaerion\, MS.\nWe accept most insurance as well as out-of-pocket payment.
