Dana’s (she/her) core values inform her approach to therapy and are rooted in respect, acceptance, graciousness, and hope.  Dana believes you are the expert in your life and her role as a clinician is to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing.  She believes human beings are unique and she caters her approach to each individual client by collaborating with you to meet your unique needs, goals, values, and strengths.

Dana’s journey to working in the helping profession was not a direct one. After overcoming many life changing obstacles and adversities she found her calling for helping others do the same in their lives. She is passionate about helping others heal from trauma and find meaning and purpose in their life.

Dana has had a lifelong love for art and has found healing through her own artmaking to be a powerful and meaningful experience.  She brings a strengths-based focus from the very beginning of therapy and carries it through to the end helping you feel empowered, encouraged, and heard. She is experienced in working with victims of trauma, substance use disorders, LGBT+ community members, and aims to help society lift the stigma of mental health.

Dana completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Alcohol and Drug counseling at Metro State University in 2016. She holds a license in Alcohol and Drug counseling in the state of MN and a Master of Art degree in Adlerian Psychology and Art Therapy.  Dana is also trained in the Adaptive Internal Relational Network (AIR Network) model and is dedicated to taking a trauma informed stance in her work.  She is a member of the NAADAC Association for Addiction Professionals, Greater MN Association of Addiction Professionals, Minnesota Art Therapy Association and the American Art Therapy Association.

Dana joined Art of Counseling LLC. in August 2018 and is honored to be a small part of your healing journey.
