Merica Overcash-Thom, MA, LMFT, ATR
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Registered Art Therapist.
Merica (she/her) engages clients in a relational, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach to the therapy process. She works to develop a collaborative and supportive partnership with her clients and is committed to honoring the knowledge and lived experience each person brings to therapy. Rooted in curiosity, Merica connects with people where they are using art therapy and talk therapy. Merica’s background with grief and trauma offers clients a compassionate space to heal. As clients explore new ideas and past experiences, Merica and her clients co-create a safe therapeutic space observing internal and external resources already present while practicing new patterns toward increased health. Clients are valued unique individuals, so as part of the therapy process Merica supports clients in gaining clarity around their core values, dreams, and goals as pivotal components of ongoing wellbeing.
Merica graduated from Adler Graduate School in 2016 with a master’s degree in Counseling and Adlerian Psychotherapy, completing both Art Therapy and Marriage and Family Therapy programs. Merica is trained and in process of certification in the AIR Network model for working with complex trauma and dissociative states. Merica currently holds the credential of Registered Art Therapist (ATR) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
