Bio

Shelley (she/her) comes to Art of Counseling with a master’s degree in Counseling from Adler Graduate School with a specialization in Expressive Arts, as well as a master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders from the University of Minnesota. Her undergraduate degree in Psychology is from the University of Denver.

Shelley believes that as a counselor it her job to hold space for you, in the way that best suits you. She will work with you to understand your wants and needs. She knows there is no better expert, on you and your life, than you. This is reflected in her client-centered approach to counseling. Shelley also uses a strengths-based lens, focusing on the unique gifts of the individual. She believes that our life experiences bring strengths that make us who we are, and these strengths help us find our way through difficulties.

Additionally, Shelley focuses on creative expression to navigate life. She has found artistic expression to be a powerful tool in personal exploration and emotional regulation, regardless of if you consider yourself an artist. Shelley is also a member of our DBT team.

Shelley is currently practicing under the supervision of Caila Kritzeck, LPCC, ATR.
